Our vision for
Keys to the City

We are in year 1.

Intimate Performances

Initiate and sustain a consistent calendar of intimate performances, scaling from 1-2 events per month to weekly performances within 12 months. These events will not only serve as a platform for local artists but will attract internationally acclaimed talents to Oakland.

Community Integration

Within the first year, place a majority of our vintage instrument collection in 8 spaces across Oakland (and other cities), forming partnerships with studios, venues, businesses, and educational institutions. Our instruments will serve as tools for cultural enrichment and education.

Permanent Facility

Secure a rent-free or low-cost facility in the East Bay within the first year. This location will serve as a hub for instrument maintenance, storage, and could potentially host workshops and educational programs.

Sustainability

Diversify our funding streams to include not just ticket sales and bar revenue, but also grants, sponsorships, and partnerships. We aim to be financially self-sufficient within three years, minimizing our dependence on external funding.

Cultural Asset Creation

Through our residency programs and partnerships, contribute to the creation of unique musical works and educational content, such as albums, EPs, and workshops, that serve as assets to Oakland’s musical and cultural heritage.

Residency Programs

By the end of year 3, launch an artist and technician residency program. Our aim is to support 5 artists and one instrument technician, offering them the resources they need to contribute meaningfully to Oakland's musical landscape.

Team Expansion

In the long term, bring on board 1-2 part-time staff members responsible for grant writing, equipment management, and artist relations, further professionalizing our operations.
